How To Change Fuel Filter On Honda Shadow 750 Spirit

I had been having an intermittent issue for a while and the cycle just quit on me a couple weeks ago and has been waiting for me to accept time to work on her.

Well, finally got time today.

A little history start. The bike would die when riding, thirty, fourscore, 1st gear or fifth, didn't matter, no pattern at all. Clutch it and bump the starter and it usually fired right back up.

Was suspecting ignition coils, pulse generator, spark plug wires, you lot proper name it.

was researching and didn't really discover anything (learn to be more specific in google searches :lol2:). Talked to the guys at wild west about the consequence when getting fresh rubber and they said to check the diaphragms in the carbs. No biggie I think, only pull the tank and in that location are the carbs, right? Wrong....:eek2:

They tin can simply come out the correct side of the bike after you detach the balance of the bike.

Ok, not into that so do some more than enquiry. Evidently honda in any wisdom they had put in a fuel cut relay instead of a tip over sensor. Ok, no biggie, I'll simply jumper to brand certain the fuel pump is working correctly. I had the aforementioned symptoms as other folks.

BINGO!!!! Emptied the bowl on i carb, cranked the cycle and the basin was still empty, jumper the relay and aforementioned thing. We have a winner Houston.

So get a new pump and starting time to go to supplant it. :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

The fuel pump is higher up the coolant reservoir, in front of the swingarm and mounted to the airbox.

Manual states removing the rear tire, fender AND swingarm to become to the airbox to remove it to replace the pump. Like THATS going to happen without a fully stocked bike shop (and a mechanic to do the work). Ok, Google is our friend so I enquiry a little more.

Institute a video on Youtube where the guy relocated the fuel pump to the pocket that holds the toolkit. That works for me equally I'm not about to disassemble the bike.

And then long story brusque and lessons learned, the bike is dorsum up and running with a relocated fuel pump. Took virtually 8-10 inches of fuel line and would have been only virtually a 2hr repair had I known what I know now.

May want to consider it it if you ever take to get through it.

Original pump (still in place). non a lot of room in in that location only you lot tin can see the front of the swingarm below the pump and the coolant reservoir is to the right. There is a bolt for the clamp right above the reservoir.

Relocated pump.

Not surprising that information technology went out, I calculate that I've run virtually 2100 gallons of fuel through information technology.

$130 for OEM fuel pump, $3 for fuel line, :rider: again, you got it.
